ChargeHub's 2025 Year in Review: Accelerating B2B Connectivity and Innovation Across North America

EN - Visuel Data Roaming

This year marked the fourth anniversary of Passport Hub, ChargeHub's flagship roaming solution. Over four years, Passport Hub has processed millions of charging sessions, connected countless drivers to networks across the continent, and established itself as the leading roaming platform in North America with over 490 live roaming connections. The platform now serves e-mobility service providers and charge point operators through turnkey integrations that simplify operations and enable large-scale EV roaming. Passport Hub also supports secure, automated Plug & Charge transactions, offering the most seamless end-to-end charging experience available in the market.

New Partnerships Expanding North America's Charging Network

EV Connect Partnership Brings 15,000 Ports to Passport Hub

In May 2025, ChargeHub partnered with EV Connect, one of the largest charge point operators (CPOs) in the United States, adding nearly 15,000 public charging ports to Passport Hub. This integration extended EV Connect's reach to millions of drivers through dozens of e-mobility service providers, including the ChargeHub app, while giving site hosts access to new revenue opportunities through expanded driver access.

"Roaming is no longer a nice-to-have. It is essential infrastructure for EV adoption," said Cassie Layton, Vice President of Strategy and Marketing at EV Connect.

The partnership reflects shared objectives to scale EV adoption by making public charging more accessible and straightforward to manage for all industry stakeholders.

Lakeland EV Charging Expands Coverage Across Ontario

ChargeHub announced a partnership with Lakeland EV Charging, a growing Canadian charge point operator, to expand public charging access throughout Ontario and the Muskoka region.

"Now EV drivers can make their travel plans to Muskoka knowing they can completely rely on our highly reliable charging network," said Peter Ewald, Director of Lakeland EV Charging. "It is maintained locally, ensuring regular upkeep and support, and features 180 kW Fast Chargers that, on average, can charge 100 km in 10 minutes."

This partnership reinforced both companies' commitment to removing barriers to public charging and ensuring drivers have easy access to reliable stations across Canada's travel corridors.

Hubject Collaboration Advances Plug & Charge in North America

In June 2025, ChargeHub partnered with Hubject, a global leader in eMobility, to accelerate Plug & Charge adoption across North America. This collaboration unites Hubject's Plug & Charge ecosystem with ChargeHub's Passport Hub platform, enabling e-mobility service providers to deliver secure, automated charging experiences built on ISO 15118-2 standards.

"ChargeHub's mission has always been to work with all industry stakeholders to provide flexible solutions that make public charging simple, scalable, and accessible," said Simon Ouellette, CEO at ChargeHub. "This partnership brings together two key industry leaders committed to providing simplified solutions for Plug & Charge."

As we highlighted recently on World EV Day, collaboration remains at the heart of building reliable, accessible charging infrastructure that serves the entire ecosystem.

Advancing Interoperability Through Plug & Charge Leadership

Technical Progress and Industry Standardization

ChargeHub made significant progress in Plug & Charge implementation throughout 2025, reinforcing our role as a turnkey solution provider for seamless, secure authentication. Working closely with Irdeto, we delivered end-to-end Plug & Charge solutions that comply with ISO 15118 standards and the highest cybersecurity standards.

A key milestone was the completion and precise documentation of the RAAR (Registration, Authentication, Authorization, and Reconciliation) process, which details every step for enabling Plug & Charge transactions, from initial registration to financial reconciliation.

By clarifying the previously misunderstood Authorization and Reconciliation phases, ChargeHub became an indispensable partner in the deployment process, helping simplify one of the most complex aspects of Plug & Charge and supporting faster, more consistent adoption across the ecosystem.

Throughout the year, live demonstrations and field validations confirmed the robustness of our approach across multiple vehicle-charger combinations. These real-world tests not only proved interoperability but also strengthened industry confidence in scalable Plug & Charge solutions that simplify the driver experience.

Industry Leadership Through Event Presence

Major Conference Participation and Industry Engagement

ChargeHub maintained a strong presence across the EV charging and mobility landscape in 2025, attending over 10 industry events throughout North America. These appearances reinforced our position as thought leaders and active contributors to the ecosystem, while enabling meaningful connections with partners, operators, and technology providers.

Key events included:

  • EV Charging Summit & Expo (Las Vegas): Executive presentations on roaming best practices and B2B integration strategies for operators looking to expand their network reach.
  • ACT Expo (California): Connected with fleet operators and commercial charging stakeholders, addressing unique requirements for depot and destination charging solutions.
  • CharIN Testival North America (Detroit): Validated Plug and Charge with roaming though a full RAAR flow demo with Lynkwell, Irdeto and Autel, strengthening cross network alignment.
  • MOVE America (Detroit): Explored mobility trends and the integration of charging infrastructure with broader transportation ecosystems.
  • EV Charging Summit & Expo (Toronto): Hosted technical panel discussions.

CharIn Testival and North America Conference 2025 (California): Shared technical insights on scaling Plug and Charge via roaming and contributed to expert discussions on reliability, security, and next-generation charging.

ChargeHub's First Partner Networking Event at MOVE America

A milestone moment came at MOVE America in Detroit, where ChargeHub hosted its first-ever partner networking event. In collaboration with Irdeto, we created a space for industry leaders to connect, share insights, and discuss the integration of charging infrastructure with broader transportation ecosystems.

This inaugural networking event reflected ChargeHub's commitment to fostering collaboration beyond transactional partnerships. The success of this first event has set the foundation for future gatherings that strengthen the bonds within our partner ecosystem.

ChargeCon: Internal Knowledge Sharing and Team Alignment

While external events connected us with the industry, our annual internal gathering, ChargeCon, brought our entire team together for a day dedicated to peer-to-peer learning and strategic alignment. ChargeCon 2025 featured presentations on innovative projects, cross-team collaborations, and a shared vision for 2025 and beyond.image10

From technical innovations to market insights, from customer success stories to operational efficiencies, these internal exchanges strengthen our collective ability to serve partners and advance the industry. ChargeCon remains a key moment each year, reminding us of the importance of working together to shape the future of electric mobility.

Reliability and Real-World Network Validation

Reliability Benchmarking Across North America

The ChargeHub Barometer has become an essential benchmark for public charging reliability across North America. Our Q1 2025 report marked a significant milestone: Canada's charging experience has caught up to U.S. standards.

BC Hydro earned top recognition for 2024 by showing that careful planning, ongoing maintenance, and strong communication with EV drivers can ensure a stable and reliable charging experience.

The 2025 distinction will be announced at the EV and Charging Expo in May to highlight a noteworthy reliability performance.
