The EV Smart charging network is designed to provide electric vehicle (EV) drivers with convenient and reliable charging options across Maryland and beyond. A collaboration between Exelon’s Maryland utilities—BGE, Pepco, and Delmarva Power—the network includes over 850 Level 2 smart chargers and DC fast chargers strategically located to serve EV drivers across the region. 

The EV Smart charging network, part of BGE’s broader EVsmart initiative, makes it easier than ever to charge your EV while driving around central Maryland. This public charging network is the result of a partnership between BGE, Shell Recharge Solutions, and state and local governments, ensuring that drivers have access to safe and reliable charging stations wherever they go.

EV Smart Charging Station Locations

Finding a charging station within the EV Smart charging network is simple and efficient.  Using ChargeHub’s charging station map, you can locate both paid and free stations across Maryland and other service areas. The map provides detailed information, including the availability of charging points, connector types, pricing, and precise locations. Whether you're in the BGE, Pepco, or Delmarva Power service area, the ChargeHub map helps you find the best charging option to suit your needs.

How to Use an EV Smart Charging Station

Using a charging station within the EV Smart charging network is straightforward and user-friendly. Here’s how you can get started:

  • Shell Recharge Solutions: Download the Shell Recharge app on your iPhone or Android. Once at a charging station, simply scan the QR code displayed on the charger and follow the on-screen instructions to begin charging.
  • Credit Card: Prefer to pay by credit card? Call 855-900-PLUG (7584) to authorize payment directly from your phone.
  • RFID Card: If you have an RFID card, just scan it on the charger to initiate your charging session.


For real-time tracking of your charging session you can use the ChargeHub app, which is available on both the App Store and Google Play.

While charging fees can vary depending on the specific provider or location, EV Smart charging network ensures you know what to expect. For the most accurate and up-to-date information on charging rates, it’s recommended you visit your provider's website or check the ChargeHub app, which provides real-time pricing details.

Use the ChargeHub App: The ChargeHub app is your go-to tool for locating BGE EVsmart chargers. Simply open the app, apply the appropriate filters, and find a station near you. The app also allows you to view real-time availability, ensuring you don’t waste time searching for a free charger.

On the Web: You can also visit the BGE website for a list of charging station locations, complete with details on each station’s availability, pricing, and supported connector types.
