Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) is revolutionizing EV charging in Western Canada with its Co-op Connect EV charging network. Designed to support rural and urban communities alike, this network is part of FCL’s commitment to sustainability and innovation.
FCL operates as a co-operative, supporting over 160 independent retail co-ops that serve Western Canada. These retail co-ops run agro centres, food stores, gas bars, convenience stores, and home centres.
On May 28, 2024, FCL announced a significant expansion of its Co-op Connect EV charging network, which is already operational in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. The network currently includes:
- 29 DC fast chargers at 16 locations across these provinces.
The expansion will bring 41 new 100 kW SmartDC fast chargers from FLO to 23 stations in British Columbia. These chargers will serve cities and towns from Fort St. John to Tofino, ensuring EV drivers have access to reliable charging, even in rural areas.
This investment aligns with British Columbia's goal of achieving 100% zero-emissions vehicles by 2035.
