Launched in 2012 by the Quebec government, the Roulez Vert program aims to encourage the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in the province. The program offers financial aid for the purchase and installation of a home charger, as well as for the acquisition of an electric vehicle (EV) or a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). An update is timely, as the program was recently suspended and its incentives are being phased out gradually.

Temporary Suspension of the Program Roulez Vert

In January 2025, the government temporarily suspended the subsidy program. This suspension lasted from February 1 to March 31, 2025. During this period, expenses related to purchasing a home charging station are not eligible for reimbursement. The suspension applies to:

  • The purchase or lease of EVs and plug-in hybrids

  • The purchase and installation of home charging stations

In 2024, the Quebec government announced the gradual phase-out of its electric vehicle incentive. As a result, the incentive for purchasing a fully electric vehicle decreased from $7,000 in 2024 to $4,000 in 2025. We covered this critical change in our article about the gradual phase-out of EV subsidies.
