For the last two visits a year apart, I've not been able to use the Tesla charger. I get a red code when connecting. The odd thing is that I talked with another Tesla owner while they were charging without any problems. I was successful using the other charger that was a non Tesla charger. I contacted Tesla and was told the problem was the charger and not my vehicle. So if you are planning to use the Tesla charger, it may or may not work for you, but if the non Tesla charger is available, give it a shot. You will need a J1772 adapter though.
