System down, and charging unit looks damaged

The station says it’s active and working. It says number two will work, but as soon as I plug it into my car, it turns off and will not charge my car which feels quite unnerving.

I was told that the station is due to be upgraded but in the meantime is usable with a chip card. The message about being decommissioned refers to communications only. I don't have a chip card so wasn't able to verify.
