Amqui

At the confluence with the Matapédia River and Lake, at the crossroads of Highway 132 and 195, Amqui is a village that aims and supports the arrival of an ever-increasing number of electric vehicles on the roads in Eastern Quebec. With this aim in mind, Amqui now has public charging stations (level 2 and 3) within a radius of 10 miles.

A level 3 charging station (DCFC) has been installed in the parking lot near the Lynnewood station (located at 209 boul. St-Benoit Ouest), due to its proximity to the tourism office and other services. This charging station is in addition to the ones that have been installed throughout the region of Gaspésie, thus allowing electric vehicle drivers to go around the entire Gaspé Peninsula, from Matane to Amqui.

Other than Amqui, the cities of Matane, Sainte-Anne-des-Monts, Mont-Louis, Grande-Vallée and more, currently have charging stations ready to use.

In Amqui, the Electric Circuit operates the charging stations. View our section on Charging Networks to receive more information on the Electric Circuit.

During the summer season, cyclists can cross the Véloroute Desjardins. It is a sustainable, active and peaceful way to admire the impressive landscapes the Matapédia valley has to offer. The Véloroute Desjardins of the Matapédia valley consists of 114 kilometers of cycle paths that are part of the Route verte. For the most part, the route is paved and situated on road circuits (paved shoulders), often borrowing municipal streets with low circulation.
